Royal tour LIVE: Prince William steps out for nature walk before he gives landmark speech | Royal | News

The Prince of Wales went on a nature walk this morning at South Africa’s Signal Hill just hours before he is set to deliver a landmark speech on nature during day 2 of his visit to the Commonwealth nation.

During today’s nature walk, Prince William met with rangers and conservationists to discuss the importance of biodiversity. Later, he is set to have a high-level meeting with South Africa’s president Cyril Ramaphosa in Cape Town, in what has been described as a “follow-up” to the state visit made to the UK by him in 2022. They will be joined by Foreign Secretary David Lammy for a meeting with his South African counterpart Ronald Lamola.

William will also attend Earthshot+, a day of conversations with world-leading experts aimed at enhancing the impact of the Earthshot Prize, with the event featuring a young environmentalist, an Earthshot trustee and Mr Lammy, among others. Finally, the future King will give a major speech on nature, the environment and his support for wildlife rangers at the start of a two-day summit for United for Wildlife, his umbrella organisation combating the illegal trafficking of animals.

The heir to the throne kickstarted his four-day visit on Monday and during the coming days will take part in a series of events shining a light on young African climate activists and promoting his passion project, the Earthshot Prize awards ceremony, which will take place on Wednesday.
