Real reason Prince William was ‘a little bit sad’ after meeting with David Beckham

Prince William was a “little bit sad” after his meeting with David Beckham, a royal expert has claimed.

William met the former England captain at RAF Northolt where they celebrated London Ambulance Service’s successful multi-million pound appeal for two new helicopters. It was a cause close to 42-year-old William’s heart as the prince is a patron of the charity.

The pair were all smiles during their reunion, even signing the air ambulances together. The former England ace reunited with his friend after lending his support to the Omaze campaign to boost the funds.

However, Roya Nikkhah royal editor at The Sunday Times, believes William was a “bit sad” that he didn’t get to test out one of the choppers. It comes just a week after the heir to the throne admitted he “misses” flying and “can’t stop thinking” about helicopters.

Speaking on the Royals with Roya and Kate, the journalist said: “I think William was a little bit sad because although they got into the cockpit and had a little bit of a play about inside the helicopter, he was supposed to have flown it from RAF Northolt to the London Hospital in White Chapel, because of course, [it is] very close to his heart.

“He is patron of London Air Ambulance and was a helicopter pilot for East Anglian Air Ambulance and before that was an RAF search and rescue helicopter pilot. So he likes to keep his flying up.”

William quit the East Anglian Air Ambulance in 2017 to take up full-time royal duties. It is understood the bad weather during his visit to RAF Northolt dashed any hopes of him flying one of the new aircraft.

The prince admitted he missed his flying days during a recent visit to the Wales Air Ambulance headquarters in Llanelli, south Wales. He said: “I can’t stop talking about helicopters and medical kits and all sorts.
