Prince Harry’s subtle snub to King Charles in emotional message about new life

Prince Harry made a poignant move in relation to his new life in America, and some experts say that it may be a bold message to his father, King Charles

Prince Harry’s recent actions appear to contain a subtle snub to King Charles, as the Duke of Sussex marked a significant moment in his new life away from the UK.

The emotional message behind Harry’s choice of date for cementing his life away from the UK has led some to speculate that it was a deliberate nod to his forced departure from Frogmore Cottage, the home he once shared with Meghan Markle following their wedding. Harry and Meghan, who now reside in California after stepping back from royal duties, were asked to vacate Frogmore Cottage in June 2023.

The property, located within the Windsor estate, had been the couple’s primary UK residence. However, following their exit from royal life and move to the United States, King Charles reportedly decided to end their lease, a move that was widely seen as part of the ongoing tension between Harry and the rest of the royal family.

Harry, who has changed the US as his permanent residence, picked June 29, 2023 for the poignant moment of changing his residency status, the same date he had to give up his Windsor estate.

Royal commentator Esther Krakuehas told Sky News Australia’s Royal Report programme: “It’s very interesting that Prince Harry chose to date his official US residency on the day he was kicked out of Frogmore Cottage.”

She added: “I think he was trying to send a message andItn it was very symbolic and I think the biggest message here is that it represents everything that could have been and is not and has been lost. Potentially it represents what actually should never have been.”

Now fully settled in California, Harry has continued to shape his identity and role outside of the royal family, focusing on causes close to his heart, such as the Invictus Games and various charitable endeavours.

It comes as Prince Harry is in New York this week attending a string of engagements. The duke, who celebrated his milestone 40th birthday a week ago, is forging ahead with his charity work after describing how fatherhood has given him a renewed sense of purpose to make “this world a better place”.
