Prince William is “embarrassed by certain aspects” of the Church of England, according to a royal insider.

Speculations over whether the heir to the throne had been shifted to religion following wife Kate Middleton’s health scare were shot down by insiders who say the “modern” Prince of Wales does not share his father’s interest in faith. One unnamed person who knows the Prince well says there is “no change of course” in his beliefs.

The late Queen had devoted herself to the Anglican community as King Charles III also has an interest in faith and spiritualism. Prince William does not share these traits according to those close to him.

Royal expert Robert Hardman, writing in Mail on Sunday, claims the Prince of Wales will not “feign an enthusiasm for something that he does not feel personally, however bleak the situation.” An insider close to Prince William says the royal is unchanged on his outlook of the Church of England.

They said: “He is a modern young man and I think he gets embarrassed by certain aspects of ceremonial and religion.” Expert Hardman commented further on Prince William’s religious distance and suggested Princess Kate had become interested “in questions of faith” following her cancer diagnosis. The Princess of Wales confirmed she was cancer free back in September, three months after revealing her diagnosis.

Hardman claimed: “The Princess, on the other hand, is said to have become rather more interested in questions of faith as a result of her condition.” He also explained the key difference between King Charles III and Prince William, with the pair following a similar trajectory through the family.

“Since becoming Prince of Wales, the new heir to the throne had not accumulated a vast portfolio of patronages, as his father had done, but was keen to keep his focus on a deeper connection with a smaller number of organisations,” Hardman said. “There was also his contrasting attitude to public disclosure, be it with regard to those Duchy accounts or the Princess’s illness.”

Elsewhere in the autobiography, published as a serial by the Mail, Hardman says the late Queen of England had plans to move Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from Frogmore Cottage so Prince Andrew could move on from the Royal Lodge. Royal expert Hardman suggested the plan would have gone ahead had the Queen “lived another year,” The Mirror reported.

Prince Harry and Meghan had quit life as working royals in 2020 and were asked to vacate Frogmore Cottage in March 2023. By June 2023 they had vacated the home. The pair had paid an eye-watering £2.4million refurbishment plan on the rental property back in 2019.
