King Charles Made a Special Stop After His Royal Tour

King Charles took a little holiday after a jam-packed nine days in Australia and Samoa. Following the monarch and Queen Camilla’s royal tour, the two made a surprise stop on their way home, where they enjoyed some R&R—and spa treatments.

According to the New India Express, Charles and Camilla made a stop in Bangalore, India, where they stayed at the Soukya International Holistic Health Centre (SIHHC). The couple reportedly took advantage of the center’s amenities: a morning yoga class, a breakfast, and a “rejuvenation treatment before lunch.”

The two also participated in a “second round of therapies” and a meditation ahead of dinner and lights out at 9 p.m., per the outlet. According to People, a Buckingham Palace spokesperson confirmed the couple’s mini retreat.

“Their Majesties had a short private stopover in India to help break the long journey back from Samoa,” they said. “They return to the U.K. this morning.”

People notes that this isn’t the royal couple’s first time at the facility.

Charles is set to resume his cancer treatments once he returns to the U.K. Earlier this week, the Daily Mail reported that the king’s doctors were “concerned” for his health following his pause in treatment.

“[T]here’s concern among the king’s medical team after an anonymous palace briefing that he will be returning to a full program of overseas tours in 2025,” Ephraim Hardcastle reported for the outlet. “Having skipped his cancer treatment regime to make the latest tour—and with no one certain how his body has coped—it was planned that he would take time off on his return, allowing him to recover and for doctors to carry out a full assessment of his well-being.”

Other outlets noted that Charles plans to take a break and slow down after the trip, and despite his doctor’s worries, Charles “genuinely loved” his time in Australia and Samoa. A senior official told the Express that he “thrived” with his busy schedule and that the trip lifted “his spirits, his mood, and his recovery.

“The tour—despite its demands—has been the perfect tonic,” they said.
