King Charles and Queen Elizabeth share more than just cute mother-son PDA—the royals also share a major love for everybody’s favorite Peruvian bear, Paddington. The late queen was fond of Paddington and spent an afternoon in 2022 with a CGI version of the cuddly character bonding over afternoon tea and marmalade sandwiches. Now, Charles is planning to follow in Elizabeth’s footsteps with a small cameo in the bear’s latest film, Paddington in Peru.
Hello! magazine reported that Charles makes a tiny cameo at the beginning of film, which is slated to be released on January 17, 2025. Paddington reportedly holds a letter with a stamp, and that stamp features a portrait of the king. The stamp isn’t just any regular stamp, though—”notably, the stamp shows a rare, front-facing portrait of his majesty, instead of the more familiar profile,” the outlet reported.

Paddington in Peru also features Queen Elizabeth, which sees her posing for a portrait alongside the famous bear.
The late queen’s portrait was included in the new movie “with the consent and agreement of the royal household,” StudioCanal executive Ron Halpern told Variety.
As for how the rest of the royal family feels about getting a nod in the charming bear’s latest movie, producer Rosie Alison told the entertainment outlet, “[The royal family] were actually very happy for it to happen. But we don’t like to make a big deal of it, because Paddington’s obviously a very modest fellow.”
If Elizabeth were alive, she likely would have wanted her cameo to be a secret. When she appeared alongside Paddington Bear Queen for their joint Platinum Jubilee skit, not many people—not even some members of the royal family—knew, with The Telegraph reporting that the queen’s cameo was so top secret “that even some of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren didn’t know about it.”
