Kate Middleton and Prince William’s lavish date nights on paradise island

Prince William and Princess Kate have their hands full with three children – but they did manage to escape for a grown-up date night during a visit to the island of Mustique a few years back.

In 2018, the royals had headed off on a luxury family holiday along with Kate’s parents, Carole and Michael Middleton. And it’s thought the grandparents volunteered to babysit the young royals – Prince Louis was only a few months old at the time – while their parents stepped out together.

According to HELLO!, William and Kate were spotted on a rare night out at the island’s famous Basil’s Bar. The theme of the party, which was also attended by Mick Jagger and his daughter Jade, was a Splash of Gold.

Fellow revellers revealed that William and Kate attended “on the early side” of the party and looked to be having a great time. The couple arrived looking “island chic”, onlookers said, with the Prince sporting a Pinkhouse Mustique shirt to support the local brand. “They were there for the cocktails segment and kept it rather classy,” one party-goer said.

The royal couple are good friends with legendary barman Basil Charles of Basil’s Bar. He even set up a pop-up bar at The Goring hotel in London, where Kate stayed the night before her wedding to William, during the week of their nuptials in 2011.

Privacy is paramount on the island of Mustique, making it an ideal destination for William, Kate and their children. A former holidaymaker to Mustique previously told the publication just how strict security is. It seems to be an unwritten rule that photography is off limits, and everyone respects each other’s privacy. “Mustique is very exclusive and press and paparazzi can’t be within a certain distance from the island, which would explain why you only see long-lens, grainy shots of the royals,” the insider said.
