The Royal Kids’ Favorite Night: Prince William and Kate Middleton’s Spooky Halloween Traditions with Their Three Little Monsters
Prince William and Kate Middleton’s Halloween tradition with children George, Charlotte, and Louis
Prince William and Princess Kate are making the most of the half-term with their three young children, and they look set to have some spooky Halloween fun together
Excitement levels in the Wales household will be mounting ahead of Halloween.
Like so many children up and down the country, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis are likely counting down to the spooky festivities – but how will they celebrate? It’s thought that the family are currently enjoying time together at William and Kate’s Norfolk home, Anmer Hall, where they typically retreat in the school holidays.
George, 11, Charlotte, nine, and six-year-old Louis are currently on their half term break from Lambrook school, and are no doubt ready for some fun Halloween activities. In the past, Kate has been spotted buying costumes in the local Sainsbury’s for her young children.
Local Kathy Whittaker clocked the royal mum as she was browsing the Halloween section in the King’s Lynn branch of the store back in 2019. Kathy told The Mirror at the time: “She was with Charlotte and George looking at Halloween outfits but her bodyguard was kind of watching people with phones and telling them no pictures. I managed to get the photo as she was at the self-service check out.
“I didn’t see what she actually bought. The lady that told me she was there had children with her and she said Kate was asking her children what they were going to be for Halloween. I think she bought some Halloween bits for her kids but I don’t know what.”
And the family have even been known to go trick-or-treating. In October 2022, Princess Kate was seen taking part in the Halloween tradition near to their Kensington Palace home.
A photo published by Hello! showed the royal mum standing by a neighbour’s gate in London with her children. And although the picture was taken from afar, making it hard to tell what costumes the children were wearing, Princess Kate was seen holding a bag, presumably to collect all their Halloween treats.
The image was posted by their neighbour Jay Rutland, husband of Tamara Ecclestone, who wrote: “For anyone doubting how down to earth William and Kate are … This is Kate with their kids knocking on our door in London trick-or-treating at Halloween.”
A love of trick-or-treating seems to be a bit of a Middleton family tradition. Princess Kate’s mum, Carole Middleton, previously spoke about her favourite part of the season on social media.
“Halloween is an Autumn highlight for me,” Carole wrote on the Instagram account for Party Pieces in 2022. “I can still remember the fun and frights from my own childhood; the chance to dress up, decorate pumpkins and go trick-or-treating!” Sharing the sweet way she planned to celebrate that year, she continued, “I’ve even grown my own pumpkins this year, so I’m looking forward to decorating those with my loved ones.”
