Tensions were brewing between Meghan Markle and Princess Kate as early as their attendance at the Royal Foundation Forum in 2018, claims a royal expert.

Kate and Meghan who attended alongside their husbands were lovingly dubbed the “Fab Four” by the press, but that Royal Foundation charity appearance would be their only official charity engagement together.

Royal expert, Richard Eden, referenced an image from the event on the Daily Mail Royals YouTube channel, highlighting stark details of the event which exposed tensions. He said: “The only one who seems delighted to be there is Meghan. She looks pleased as punch with that expression.

He added: “It looks like she really did feel ‘this is my moment, I’m joining the Firm, and I’m going to be the boss’.”

Mentioning the body language, Richard explains Kate, Harry and William “all look quite awkward”, with the brother’s “biting” their lips.

Princess Kate who was heavily pregnant at the time with Prince Louis “smiled and clapped” when Meghan was introduced, but the “mood was tense” between the royals.

Following Harry and Meghan’s departure from the Royal Family in 2020, the Royal Foundation is now an initiative by the Prince and Princess of Wales, driven by a desire “to make a difference” – as stated on the website.
