Royal breaks protocol by wearing tracksuit and hoodie on official engagement

A royal stepped out in public on Saturday wearing a tracksuit and hoodie in a break from convention.

Princess Charlene of Monaco attended the Rokethon Race 2024, a morning walk against animal abandonment in the country, on Saturday wearing a taupe knitted hoodie and black joggers.

She accessorised her outfit with chunky designer trainers and a pair of cat-eye Louis Vuitton sunglasses.

The look was a direct contrast to what the royal usually wears at engagements, especially when she attends evening functions with her husband Prince Albert.

On these events, the princess is often seen in formal wear which includes mainly long regal-looking dresses.

However, while fans of the monarchy may have been shocked on Saturday to see the princess in her everyday clothes, this is not the first time she has turned up in casual attire for an engagement.

According to Hello! Magazine, the former Olympian has worn a hoodie on a public engagement before back in February when she took her twin nine-year-old children Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella to a EuroLeague match between the Roca Team and the Fenerbahçe Istanbul team.

For this event, the princess wore skinny jeans and a Louis Vuitton ‘Double Face Hooded Jacket’, another outfit not expected to be worn publicly by a member of the Royal Family.

She raised eyebrows once again when sporting a pair of cargos at another event back in April.

At the E-Prix at Circuit de Monaco in Monte-Carlo, Charlene wore the Louis Vuitton cargos in the shade Blanc Casse, which retail for £1,830.
