Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s son Archie has sweet nickname for his parents
Despite Prince Archie being kept almost entirely out of the public eye by Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex has revealed the sweet nickname he uses for his parents
Since Meghan and Prince Harry decided to leave life in the UK behind and set up their home in California, only a few glimpses of their two children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet have ever been seen by the public.
With privacy and a desire to get away from the bright spotlight constantly trained on the Royal Family one of the couple’s main motivations behind their royal exit, it’s understandable that they are fiercely protective of the two Sussex children, and want to share any insight or family photographs entirely on their own terms.
Both Meghan and Harry have been open about how much they have personally struggled with aspects of living in the public eye, with the Duchess of Sussex even admitting that press scrutiny during her first pregnancy left her struggling with suicidal thoughts. Whilst the strict privacy the couple enforces for their children allows the two royal youngsters crucial normality in their day-to-day lives, royal fans are always delighted when they get a glimpse of what Archie and Lilibet are getting up to, and Meghan’s revelation of the sweet nicknames Archie uses for his mother and father was likely no exception.
Speaking to The Cut magazine back in 2022, when she was launching her Archetypes podcast, Meghan revealed the seriously sweet nicknames that Archie uses for them: Momma and Papa. Meghan was explaining one of the things that had made her and Harry fall in love with their Montecito home when they were looking around it, two stunning palm trees joined at the bottom in the centre of the property’s lush lawn. The Duchess was quoted as saying “‘One of the first things my husband saw when we walked around the house was those two palm trees,’ she coos. ‘See how they’re connected at the bottom? He goes, ‘My love, it’s us.'”
This comparison has led to Archie developing a pretty adorable habit – walking over to the pair of trees and saying “Hi, Momma. Hi, Papa.” The lengthy interview also saw further insight into how the Sussex children are being raised, with Meghan explaining that she and Harry were focussing on the importance of good manners when it came to their son, and a sweet moment between the Duchess and Archie where she swept him into a hug “so full of genuine emotion that both close their eyes,” after picking him up from preschool, showing the depth of the pair’s bond.
