An insider has spoken out about Prince Harry's solo trip to New York this week after some royal fans had suggested the 40-year-old Duke is trying to make more public appearances without Meghan Markle
Prince Harry has always been keen on his own ‘solo ventures’ without his wife Meghan Markle, according to insiders.
The 40-year-old Duke of Sussex made a solo trip to New York this week with no Duchess in sight- sparking speculation that he is looking to cement a more distinct role for himself outside the Archewell project. Harry made a number of appearances at events connected with UN General Assembly High-Level Week, including a star guest feature at the Clinton Global Initiative in New York on Tuesday and a sweary appearance on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. However, a source close to the couple has denied that this shows them growing apart – and instead said they had always planned to keep their own separate public profiles ever since leaving the Royal Family.
The insider told Hello: “Harry and Meghan have consistently pursued solo ventures in connection with their individual interests, but remain deeply committed to their joint efforts through Archewell. Together they have exciting projects in the pipeline, all driving forward their shared mission for positive global impact.” One of their recently launched initiatives is the Archewell Foundation’s Parents Network, a “purpose-driven movement for change to safeguard against online harms”.
In his appearance at the Clinton Foundation this week, Harry spoke movingly about his mother Princess Diana and the award named in her memory. Discussing the Diana Award, which celebrates young people who contribute to their community, he said: “I know that my mum would be incredibly proud of you guys, not just you, but all of the award winners. One of the reasons we are here today is mental health. The fact that it affects every single one of us from top to bottom, from the youngest to the oldest. I think you guys are leading the charge in hopefully being able to break down the stigma to be able to continue these conversations.”
Harry, who was wearing a gold, square Diana Award badge on the lapel of his dark suit, asked the two Diana Legacy Award winners taking part what “worries you the most about the world today?” and “What are the biggest barriers to young people reaching their full potential?” During the question and answer session, he also quizzed them on how poor mental health had impacted them and their peers. Christina, 27, from Jamaica told the duke: “Scared children cannot dream, Prince Harry.”
